In continuing with one of our core values we took 2 days last week to spend time with a fantastic guy and brilliant mind learning about nutrition, diet, rehab and exercise to bring you the best that we can bring.
Here are a just a few pearls from the mind of Dr. Eric Serrano
1. When it comes down to diet there is absolutely nothing to be gained by being scared of fats. The cells within our body are made up largely of fat and going down the low fat route is a recipe for disaster.
That is why we look at your intake carefully and see where you maybe fat deficient. Over and over again we have had folks cell us how much better they feel and leaner they look once they have this squared.
2. It is really important that any fats you use come from a dark bottle. Oils go rancid really quickly. They also need antioxidant protection to remain stable. Cheap oils will lead to health complications.
We only recommend the best for this purpose as it is worth the investment if you don’t eat a few servings of fish per week.
3. If you have a cholesterol lower than 250 (6.48) and are 55 + than your chances of cancer increase by 4000%! and brain/stroke by as much as 8000%.
Low cholesterol is a disease of the stupid! Your body makes 60-70% of its own cholesterol so you can imagine what happens when you take it out of your diet? Yep…you guessed production ramps up!!!
4. The higher the saturated fat content the more stable it is under high heats but cook with them gently. These include coconut oil and butter.
5. We get fat by either increasing the size of our fat cells or increasing the number of them. Fish oil can actually lower the number of fat cells you have!
6.The best diet to lose fat? A high fat, moderate protein and low carb diet works really well for 14 days.
But then again so does a high carb diet, a high protein diet, a low protein diet etc.
Diet depends on YOU, where you have been for the last three years, your genetics and location. There is so much to factor in.
Diet design is a skill and we look at this carefully to ensure you get results.
7. If you have an intolerance to eggs change the way you cook them. Scrambled eggs work great for those who are intolerant.
We have found that people eat eggs most days and have shown up in food intolerance tests with this off the scale.
8. If you are intolerant to a lot of foods then enzymes with each meal are a must.
Enzymes are the little factories within us that make processes happen.
9. Chest fat is largely due to the high levels of aromotase an enzyme that converts testosterone into estrogen – feminizing you! So you go from admiring Hulk and his muscles to enjoying romantic comedies.
One way of helping you lower these levels is to consume a diet rich in cruciferous vegetables. We have found this to be the case with our transformation clients who consume large amounts of this in their diets.
10. Gallbladder removal leads to fat gain down the line but there are some absolutely essential steps you can do with your diet. One of which is to watch your fat and carbohydrate intake as you will struggle to metabolize these two nutrients. Enzymes are a must too.
11. Hanging is a incredible activity for shoulder health. Done daily you can really help with conditions like frozen shoulder.
12. A Super high intensity sprint programme is incredible for fat loss. Performed in the morning with Amino acids before and after and you can get a double whammy.
13. Drinking a hot drink with fat ensures that you don’t absorb the fat as easily as if you were to consume it with a cold drink.
14. Eating by the seasons is one way to stay healthy and easy too. There are plenty of apps you can use for this.
There could easily be another 100. The devil is in the detail as they say.
