Three Wise Men

I was down in sunny Wicklow there at the weekend with the family.

The ole fella was pretending to be Maverick off Top Gun in a flight sim.

Whilst waiting my ears pricked BIG TIME.

Three lads, spear-headed by one ‘leader’ telling him that the food he was eating had way too many points.

The boys were all attending their local weight management group.

The two lads were in fierce discussion about the merits of a fruit snack.

The leader was determined to put his point across. The other two were confused about this that the other. About how one food was not ideal as it had too many points.

He was even giving out about one of the lads sneaking a mars bar in at break.

I LOVE this sh*t.

Needless to say – I kept my head down.

Until…

“So pal what do you do?” rung through the air.

“I am a nutritionist and health professional”

“Oh”

Tumbleweed blew across the floor.

“So what do you think of all this?”

HERE lies the sucker punch.

Do you tell them about the flaws in the approach?

About how a processed food item is processed no matter what points or calories you assign to it?

About how your body doesn’t recognize sh*t it only recognizes what it needs?

About the difference between 1000kcal of whole foods over a 1000kcal of junk?

No.

I was too impressed with their determination.

The ‘leader’ had already got results.

The other two had an unwavering belief in it.

All three of them were working at it together.

So today – do what you have to do. Sure there is the best way.

But ask yourself HONESTLY this

“How is it working for you?”

“I am off for a pint” he said
